Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf plans to re-open 100 locations in New York City

Nearly two years ago, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf suddenly closed all their franchise locations in San Francisco and in New York City due to what the company referred to as “poor management” that caused issues between the corporate company and the franchises.

Now the company is planning a comeback in the Big Apple, with a press release saying that they’ll have 10 new locations in the city by the end of 2018 with plans of aggressively expanding their reach to 100 New York City locations in the next several years. That’s nuts.

They’ll be more focused on management of the locations this time; tapping Hudson River Coffee & Tea to take charge. “We’re thrilled that Hudson River Coffee & Tea has the opportunity to bring this iconic brand to the New York market.” said Pinchas Shapiro, chief executive officer, Hudson River Coffee & Tea.

We’ve always been a fan of Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf’s espresso drinks and can’t wait to welcome them back. And despite “Starbucks fatigue” have have a lot more competition with local and fast casual coffee franchises popping up around the city including Bluestone Lane, Brooklyn Roasting Company, FIKA, Gregorys, La Colombe, and Blue Bottle.
